Palmerdale Methodist’s desire to support their growing church community meant the need to move their contemporary services into their main chapel, which, while beautifully styled, was built for vocal performance and featured near-unusable levels of reverb and echo, undermining the ability for their sound system to provide clear spoken word and creating substantial feedback issues.
After consultation with the team, the best solution was to acoustically treat the space to reduce reflections and overall reverb without compromising the tone or aesthetics already present. Through thoughtful placement and utilizing a new design of flown baffle, we were able to work with the team to reduce the reverb in the space by more than a third while maintaining the original room characteristics, with substantially less treatment than their leadership had anticipated, saving on budget, reducing the visual impact of the installation, and maintaining the charm of their space while preparing it to better support the needs of their church family.
